Joint venture “Azercell Telecom” was established on January 19, 1996.
Founders were Turkcell İletişim Hizmetleri  A. S. and Ministry of Communications of Azerbaijan Republic. “Azercell Telecom” started its activities on December 15, 1996 offering subscribers mobile telecommunications services based on postpaid system. In 1998 prepaid system was launched with tariff package — SimSim that was very successful. As being the leader of the market and very dynamic company it’s known as the trend setter in mobile telecommunications market in Azerbaijan applying new technologies and offering various tariff packages, products and services that are beyond the customer needs.

Azercell Telecom JV’s sponsorship and charity activities are focused on the welfare of the nation — periodical humanitarian aid made to refugees and internally displaced persons, care to children, sponsorship of science-based projects; sports events, meticulous attention and support to national culture is the proof of Azercell’s good intentions in development of the country.

General

The services of Azercell Telecom J.V. — that started functioning as a mobile telecommunications provider on December 1996 — now are available to 99% of the population and 75% of the republic’s territory (excluding occupied territories) is under Azercell’s coverage area. To make roaming service available for subscribers Azercell signed special agreements on international roaming with 285 operators in 130 countries worldwide.
Thanks to constant efforts made to broaden coverage area and roaming network Azercell subscribers can always be everywhere in touch. After a long time of activity, Azercell has 10  MSC (Mobile Switching Centers), 11 BSC (Base Station Controllers), 3 GMSC (Gateway Mobile Switching Center) and 987 BTS (Base Transceiver Stations).
Azercell Telecom J.V. provides its subscribers with access to GSM network. Provision of clients with best quality mobile connection is main but by no means the only service offered by the company. Upon subscription you will get opportunity to use different mobile telecommunications services offered by Azercell and a wide range of partners’ services.
With the help of your mobile you can not only be in touch with other subscribers but also you can get various information, access to Internet and e-mail, have fun or take part in quizzes and all these are available on the move wherever and whenever you want.
